LONDON
You will arrive at London Central Airport, about 15 miles outside the city. After clearing customs and immigration control, take an airport bus into the city. It will cost about 84¢ per person. Airport porters should be tipped one shilling each for one or two bags, sixpence each for several small pieces.
The bus will take you to the city air terminal from which point you can get a taxi to your hotel, the Carlton Tower. This is located south of Hyde Park and convenient to Harrods and other fine stores.
The hotel porter, or concierge, can assist you with plans for local tours. A tour of the city is recommended early in your stay so that you may orient yourselves.
Tipping: The 10 to 15% rule applies at restaurants. A service charge has already been paid for hotel personnel, however, bellboys, doormen, and taximen are tipped extra.
Currency: There are 12 pence in a shilling; 20 shillings in a pound, which is valued at U.S. $2.40. The new 5-pence equals 1 shilling.
While in London, re-confirm your Iberia flight to Madrid. Preferably, about Monday morning.
When you leave London you can again take the airport bus from the city terminal to the airport. Be sure to allow sufficient time to check in at the Iberia counter well before your flight leaves at 12:50 PM.
